A Nest of Dance - Kiota cha Dansi)
A Nest of Dance (Swahili: Kiota cha Dansi) is an inclusive Tanzanian dance platform launched by Nantea Dance Company in partnership with Goethe-Institut Tanzania. Since 2025, it has celebrated and amplified diverse Tanzanian dance styles, including hip-hop, Afrodance, traditional dances, breakdance, Singeli, and dance theater, providing a stage for stories often underrepresented in formal artistic spaces.
The project is held bi-monthly, with each edition built around a central theme and featuring curated performances, artist talks, and open discussions. In 2025, the platform reached 62 Tanzanian dancers and choreographers (26 female, 36 male). Participating artists represented diverse groups, including Afromob, Queens Dance Crew, T Africa, Shine Dance, The Believers, Nipa & Pili, and Aloyce Makonde.
In 2026, Kiota cha Dansi expands into its next phase with a focus on Tanzanian and African dance artists, supporting high-quality productions, artistic growth, and regional collaboration. The platform contributes to a more connected, sustainable, and vibrant dance ecosystem in Tanzania and beyond, while inviting the public to engage through free and accessible events that celebrate both traditional and contemporary dance practices, offering audiences a rich and diverse dance experience.
