Nantea Dance Company is a Tanzanian-based contemporary performance company founded in 2015 by Tadhi Alawi and Samwel Japhet. The company produces multifaceted touring performances, social projects, and artistic platforms that support East African dancers and cross-cultural collaborations while contributing to the growth of the Tanzanian dance scene and inspiring young people to become ambassadors of social change and creative development.
The company’s goal is to create high-quality dance works and build a culture where art holds its own value. Nantea Dance Company is committed to touring its choreographic works, which have been presented in The Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Latvia, United States, Mozambique, Israel, Rwanda, Belgium, Uganda, Sweden, Kenya, and Tanzania.
In addition to performances, Nantea Dance Company actively engages in cross-cultural collaborations and capacity-building initiatives. The company organizes Kiota Cha Dansi (A Nest of Dance), an inclusive dance platform launched in partnership with Goethe-Institut Tansania in 2025 to showcase Tanzanian and African dance works. Nantea Dance Company also leads Nje Ndani, a capacity-building program supporting emerging Tanzanian and East African dance artists through workshops, seminars, and open dialogues on artistic expression and creative entrepreneurship.
